Bögen
Bögen is a single-seater and an invitation to linger. A tensioned multiplex arc forms the centrepiece and is responsible for holding the furniture together. No screws, no adhesive; the stool needs little and asks for nothing.
During assembly, the user is called upon to interact with the object. Four individual parts, each with a different function, want to be interlocked with one another. The arc must nestle into the side panels; the sound of it clicking into place signals that the stool is complete. This fosters a human–object interaction that is low-threshold, yet substantial enough to establish an emotional connection to the object. Material use is minimal. The moulded plywood with its slight curves provides great stability with little veneer. The PVAC dispersion glue used poses no health risks. The plural in the name is emblematic of the product family, which operates within the same system.
Bögen forms an answer to the questions: How little does it take to achieve an aesthetic that remains uncompromised? How much less can lead to more elegance? And can the gentle curves of the moulded wood guide the gaze past the object and back to the human being?
